The impeachment trial ends today. Senators are expected to clear the US president on both articles. Donald Trump's State of the Union address last night, which avoided all mention of the trial, had the air of a campaign rally.

  • I just got back from the Capitol and wrote this post about Trump's State of the Union address. It was quite an experience! Republicans were psyched. Democrats were resigned. The chief justice looked beat (emotionally? physically? constitutionally?). Most of all though, it was a trial for House impeachment managers.

    Did the process change any minds? Watching media that dedicated its news coverage to President Trump and ignoring the news that Americans actually need to make educated votes didn't help. Assuming voters will accept " not Trump " as a viable policy and they have no interest in the rest of the world is a sad comment on the news media.
